History

With clear aims and aspirations the hospital started functioning at a small place in the PBMA'S Blind Women Hostel since 1997. First year we performed 2000 lens implant surgeries and reached upto 4000 surgeries by year 1999. We shifted to our new hospital building of 44000 sq feet on 5 acre land in Jan 2000. CBM started helping us since year 2000. This has provided us, along with new building newer horizons. We started our reach out programme for SOLAPUR district and twice a week we made a programme of bringing 30 - 60 cases per trip to operate them with IOL and drop back to their places. This has helped us to build our credibility as a safe and quality eye centre.

This steady progress has helped us to perform more than 12500 surgeries in year 2001. We have also a very sizable out patients on an average 200 - 350 per day. The hospital is equipped with 6 Chair Units, 8 Slit Lamps, 2 A-Scans, B-Scan, Digital Fundus Camera with FA, Yag Laser, Double Frequency Yag Laser, Automated Perimetry, Auto Ref., 6 Operating Microscopes, 2 Alcon Phaco with most qualitative sterilizing equipments.

The hospital has been certified with ISO 9002-94 w.e.f. 10 Aug 2001. We also held EYE INDIA 2002 Conference on Community Ophthalmology and 350 delegates participated and CBM also participated in the conference. It is approved for IOL and SICS training by Minister of Health.

The most singular factor to note is the steady support and encouragement and guidance by CBM, which helped us to achieve this mammoth task. We hope to reach newer heights and newer area to provide quality eye care, with help of CBM in future.

With the help CBM it was possible to rehabilitate thousands of poor from Pune, Solapur and part of Nagar district who not only have good quantity of vision but also have good quality vision for gainful employment.

The hospital is approved by Central Government for IOL training to eye surgeons. We are also conducting School Survey for eye check up along with teachers training to participate in the eradication of preventable blindness. The hospital is managed by Mr. N. P.
