PBMA'S H.V. Desai Eye Hospital is a project of The Poona Blind Men's Association. A centre committed to socio-economic rehabilitation of the blind since last 50 years. Shri. N. P. Pandya, Executive Director, had a great wish to establish an eye hospital and he finally realised his wish by establishing PBMA's H.V.Desai Eye Hospital in January 2000. Earlier there was a small hospital functioning since 1997 at PBMA's Home for Aged Blind Women. The aim of the hospital is as follows :

1. Provide comprehensive and quality eye care without discrimination between free and paying patients.
2. Out Reach programme to be carried out within a range of 350 kms. from base hospital.
3. Free treatment to be provided to more than 60% cases.
4. Develop into and institute so as to impart post-graduate and paramedical training .
